The
definitive guide to skiing and snow boarding on real snow with real
ski lifts
in the mountains of Cumbria, Northumberland and County Durham
Glenridding
| Almost
everyone using the ski lifts are locals so at the end of the
day they go back to their own homes, but if you are from further
afield and you are skiing at Raise then you might consider staying
in Glenridding. |
| Glenridding
is is the small village at the foot of Raise. There are
a couple of pubs for the evening and a couple of shops.
No gear shops and no ski or board hire available. There
is little public transport to and from Glenridding. The
Youth Hostel is located out of the village - nearer to
the ski lift, further from the pubs - is that a good thing
or not? - you can decide for yourselves. Hotels, B&Bs,
self catering and a campsite are also available, but watch
out - some establishments choose not to open during the
winter season. Presumably they are skiing elsewhere. |
